Sarah Barrie is a freelance journalist, blogger, and Latin Americanist with expertise in marketing and public relations, translation, and education. Sarah’s articles have appeared in various publications such as Kesta Happening, The Fair Observer, and Hola Cultura, among others. She is the former Marketing and Public Relations Manager at GALA Hispanic Theatre in Washington, DC, and has experience working at DC-based international organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS), and Care International.
Sarah is a recently returned Peace Corps volunteer in Cajamarca, Peru in the area of youth development.
With over six years’ experience in education (English, Spanish, and bilingual instruction), Sarah has taught in both the US and abroad. She has lived and worked in Spain, Panama, Argentina, and has traveled throughout Latin America. One of her most memorable experiences was working on community development projects in Guna Yala, Panama on the island of Achutupu.
Sarah received her Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish with a business concentration from Virginia Tech. She acquired her Master’s Degree in Spanish: Latin American Studies and Graduate Certificate in Spanish Translation from American University in Washington, DC.
